This week, I’m excited to share a guest essay from my colleague Ricardo Yarzagaray, whose mind I’ve long admired for its willingness to dive headfirst into the deeper end of the intellectual pool. His new piece, Quantum Consciousness: Exploring the Intersection of Mind and Physics, doesn’t try to reduce the mystery of consciousness — it expands it.
Ricardo takes us on a bold interdisciplinary journey, weaving together neuroscience, quantum physics, music, field theory, and metaphysics. From microtubules and Penrose’s Orch-OR model to Jungian archetypes and non-local awareness, this is not light reading, but it’s rich, rewarding, and relevant.
He’s not here to claim certainty. In the spirit of Schrödinger’s What Is Life?, Ricardo offers a kind of philosophical exploration, where poetry and physics sit at the same table. You’ll find deep questions, emerging hypotheses, and a reminder that just because something can’t be proven yet, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be asked.
So if you’ve ever wondered whether consciousness is more than a byproduct of the brain, if it might be embedded in the very structure of reality, you’ll want to sit with this one.
Enjoy the read. And as always, stay curious.
